About Parco delle Antiche Terme Jacobelli
Telese Terme is a small town in the Valle Telesina, in the province of Benevento, known for its sulphurous waters and its historic spa. Alongside the paid facility, the town has a free public place: the Parco delle Antiche Terme Jacobelli, a green space with benches, a children's playground and the remains of the old spa buildings, where you can still smell the sulphurous vapours.
Entry to the park is free and it still has a few pools fed by sulphurous water. However, we have classified the place as "to be checked" for a specific reason: sources report that the pools are not always full and that maintenance is not always good. So it's not guaranteed that you'll be able to bathe when you arrive.
The water temperature isn't given by the sources we consulted either, so we can't state it with certainty. Our advice is to treat the Parco Jacobelli as a pleasant stop for a walk in the greenery, with the chance of a soak if the pools are working. It's convenient with children, thanks to the playground and the town setting.
Telese also has the thermal park of the main spa, which you can walk around freely, with the buvette where you can drink the sulphurous water almost for free, paying only for the cup. Baths, mud treatments and therapies, on the other hand, are paid. Not far away is Lake Telese, a small oasis for a stroll.
The Valle Telesina is also wine country, especially Falanghina and Aglianico del Taburno, and has interesting villages such as Sant'Agata de' Goti and Cerreto Sannita: a good opportunity to combine wellbeing, history, food and wine.
If the park's pools turn out to be empty or unusable, in Telese itself you can still enjoy a full thermal experience at the main paid spa, or simply drink the sulphurous water at the buvette, practically free. If you visit the park, please send us a report: it will help us update this page's status.
